Dar Ne'meh & Princess Taghrid Institute

Created to empower women, Dar Ne'meh is a project founded by the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI) that provides local Jordanian women with a space to sell their food and crafts. Ran by women, for women, Dar Ne'meh's existence allows women across Jordan to be both productive and self reliant.

Dar Ne'meh's story begins in Ghor Safi in the south of Jordan, the location of PTI's first project for reducing food waste. Named Ne'meh (bliss), the project involved training local women on how to process local foods from their region, including tomatoes, pickles, and jams. While these women now had the skills to process food, they still needed access to a market where they could sell these products. PTI recognized this need and began a new project called Souq Ne'meh (Ne'meh market), a seasonal market open during the summer. Beyond those food products, PTI also worked with female-run, home-based businesses and entrepreneurial projects, including their work in the market so that they too could support themselves economically.

Still, PTI dreamed of something bigger. Something that would allow these women to earn an income year-round. Thus, Dar Ne'meh – House of Blessings – was born, a charitable restaurant, handicraft, and traditional food market that directly connected these goods to the consumer.

Beyond Dar Ne'meh, PTI's work extends to a vast number of other areas. First founded in 2010 to support orphans and abandoned youth after the age of 18, this local NGO now serves the broader purpose of addressing the needs of women. Continuing to support orphaned and abandoned youth, PTI collaborates with international donor agencies on empowerment and productive projects that give Jordanian women the tools they need to support themselves. In addition, the Institute's work with children extends to include the Princess Taghrid Center for Measurement and Diagnosis, which serves children with learning difficulties.

By empowering women in our society, we help empower generations to come. Our projects have helped train women on productive skills and guided them to a career path where they can support their families with a sustainable income. Nothing makes us prouder than growing a family of trained and developed women all over the country who are skilled and self-reliant.
